At least five states have set COVID-19 records in the last week. Here are seven more COVID-19 updates:

New York City-based Dwight Capital supplied $29 million to refinance a project in Mystic, Conn., that will include an ASC, Commercial Observer reported Dec. 8. 

Midwest Vision partners has acquired Kansas City, Mo.-based Discover Vision Centers and its three ASCs and nine ophthalmology practices, Midwest Vision said Dec. 8. 

ASCs and hospitals nationwide are feeling the effects of severe nurse shortages, exacerbated by a recent COVID-19 spike. 

A medical office building with a multispecialty ASC in Avondale, Ariz., a suburb of Phoenix, was acquired by Montecito Medical, the real estate company said Dec. 8. 

From CMS restoring the inpatient-only list to unaddressed supply chain issues, obstacles facing ASCs at the federal level were discussed with Joe Peluso, administrator of Aestique Surgery Center in Greensburg, Pa.

In November, three Virginia health systems opened or planned ASCs costing a combined $435 million.
