Here’s what you should know about the surgery center:
1. White Fence Surgical Suites CEO and Surgeon Partner Keith Berend said to Becker’s he believes the center has performed more outpatient total joint procedures than any other freestanding ASC in the world.
2. The center was established in 2013 by several surgeons from New Albany, Ohio-based Joint Implant Surgeons.
3. Legislation in Ohio dictates that patients can stay no longer than 23 hours in an ASC. Dr. Berend said only 3 percent of White Fence Surgical Suites patients’ stay overnight for medical or surgical reasons, 94 percent go home the same day. Three percent choose to stay for convenience or medical tourism.
4. White Fence Surgical Suites specializes in partial and total knee replacements, total hip replacements, total shoulder replacements and sports-related injuries.
5. Joint Implant Surgeons is a six-physician team of skilled orthopedic surgeons. The physicians include:
