Here are 24 statistics on the most common surgery center specialties, organized by region of the country, according to data from VMG Health's Multi-Specialty ASC Intellimarker 2010.

In all facilities:
1. GI/Endoscopy: 24 percent of case volume
2. Opthalmology: 19 percent
3. Orthopedics: 17 percent
4. Pain management: 14 percent

In the West United States:
1. Pain management: 18 percent
2. Orthopedics: 17 percent
3. Ophthalmology: 17 percent
4. GI/Endoscopy: 17 percent

In the Southwest United States:
1. Ophthalmology: 24 percent
2. GI/Endoscopy: 22 percent
3. Orthopedics: 14 percent
4. General surgery: 12 percent

In the Midwest United States:
1. Orthopedics: 21 percent
2. GI/Endoscopy: 18 percent
3. Ophthalmology: 15 percent
4. Pain management: 15 percent

In the Southeast United States:
1. GI/Endoscopy: 35 percent
2. Ophthalmology: 24 percent
3. Orthopedics: 12 percent
4. Pain management: 8 percent

In the Northeast United States:
