US healthcare spending rises 5.6% in Q3 — 4 points

The U.S. Census Bureau's Quarterly Services reported healthcare spending increased 5.6 percent in the third quarter, as opposed to the same period the year prior, according to California Healthline.

Here are four points:

1. Hospital spending was up 5.3 percent.

2. In the third quarter, nursing homes and residential care facilities was 3.3 percent higher.

3. Compared to the third quarter of 2014, physician offices' spending was up 7.4 percent.

4. Outpatient centers' spending was up 8.6 percent.
