The Department of Veterans Affairs Sunshine Healthcare Network appointed Miguel H. LaPuz director, according to The Tampa Tribune.

2. Mr. LaPuz will supervise a $4.7 billion operating budget to deliver healthcare to approximately 600,000 veterans.

3. He has served as director at the VA Medical Center in Salem, Va., since 2011.

4. Mr. LaPuz was responsible for the medical center's administrative and clinical operations as well as supervising executive team members.

5. St. Petersburg, Fla.-based VA Sunshine Health Network serves 1.5 million veterans in 79 counties.
