Here are five takeaways:
1. After formal attire and white coats, patients’ second attire choice for providers was semi-formal attire, while many also said they wanted their procedural physicians to wear scrubs.
2. Most patients wanted providers to wear conservative clothing, preferably long sleeves. The majority of patients reported unease with their physician having any piercings.
3. A large portion of patients prefer physicians who smiled, with most patients reporting a neutral opinion concerning physicians with a serious facial expression.
4. Interestingly, the majority of patients reported less trust in a provider who smiles or laughs too often.
5. Most patients want their physician to introduce themselves by first and last name and also reported preferring their provider wear a clearly visible nametag.
