Sen. Patty Murray voices support for ASCs

Democratic Senator Patty Murray, of Washington, voiced her support for ambulatory surgery centers as "part of the healthcare solution," during a breakfast with a group of Proliance Ambulatory Surgery Center physicians and other healthcare professionals during an Oct. 7 fundraising breakfast in Seattle.

"We are happy to work with you, and you are part of the solution. What we do in Medicare drives costs across the board. The good news is that the uninsured rate has dropped in Washington State from 18 to 10 percent, thanks to Obamacare. But, we have to keep going in healthcare. There's a lot of work to be done," said Senator Murray.

Sen. Murray said she was interested in learning more about ASCs and the benefits they have to offer. Following the breakfast, Sen. Murray took a tour of Seattle Surgery Center and attended a briefing conducted by the center's administrator, Melody Fitzgerald.
