Here are four key details to know:
1. Specialists in Massachusetts had overall salaries of $291,000, compared to $203,000 for primary care physicians.
2. Physicians who are self-employed made more than those who are employed by a health system. Self-employed physicians made $375,000, while employed physicians made $244,000.
3. More than half of physicians in Massachusetts felt fairly compensated; 55 percent were satisfied with their pay.
4. Physicians’ net worth in Massachusetts was about the same as physicians nationally — 65 percent of Massachusetts physicians had a net worth between $1 million and $5 million, compared to 62 percent nationally.
