Two North Carolina cities fall on opposite ends of the spectrum regarding physician compensation, with the top metropolitan area having an average compensation of $285,109, according to doximity’s “First Annual Physician Compensation Report.”

2. Bridgeport, Conn. – $279,138
3. Minneapolis- $272,610
4. Indianapolis- $270,468
5. Phoenix- $268,869
6. Dallas- $264,771
7. Louisville, Ky. – $264,026
8. Orlando, Fla. – $263,494
9. Houston- $260,645
10. Tampa, Fla. – $257,304

The following 10 cities have the lowest average physician compensation:

1. Durham, N.C. – $200,594
2. Ann Arbor, Mich. – $210,911
3. Charleston, S.C. – $216,038
4. Baltimore – $217,249
5. Washington, D.C. – $221,815
6. Boston – $223,445
7. Philadelphia – $223,688
8. Denver – $226,282
