1. Capital BlueCross launched the initiative in central Pennsylvania. The pharmacist will provide medication recommendations and support to physicians and patients.
2. Capital launched the initiative at Penn Medicine Lancaster (Pa.) General Health, Penn Health Milton S. Hershey (Pa.) Medical Center, Fountain Hill, Pa.-based St. Luke’s University Health Network, Harrisburg, Pa.-based UPMC Pinnacle and York, Pa.-based WellSpan Health.
3. Pharmacists will have access to patient records and can schedule physician consultations during which they can suggest changing a prescription if they believe a different intervention would be beneficial.
4. Capital hopes the program will reduce physician workload and decrease medication costs.
