Here are five more survey findings:
1. While CMS offered practices education, training and technical assistance to help physicians understand MARCA systems, 89 percent of solo practices expect to downsize their Medicare cases, so CMS won’t require them to submit quality, cost or clinical practice improvement reports.
2. Of small practices, 77 percent reported struggling financially because of staffing losses to larger practices.
3. Seventy-two percent of small practices attribute their financial troubles to their underperforming billing technology and compound payment issues.
4. Fifty-five percent of independent practitioners reported they do not plan to make any technology changes or purchases until they make acquisition decisions.
5. Sixty-three of small or solo practitioners have not reached a decision on a technology suite or products to help with meaningful use, clinician usability, interoperability or coordinated billing and claims.
