Healthcare employment is on the rise, according to new numbers from the Bureau of Labor and Statistics.
Here are five things to know:
1. Healthcare sector employment increased by 50,000 jobs in December.
2. The ambulatory healthcare services industry added 38,000 jobs last month.
3. Hospitals increased employment by 7,000 jobs in December.
4. Overall, in 2018 healthcare added 349,000 jobs, which is an increase from the 284,000 jobs added in healthcare in the previous year.
5. Through 2026, BLS projects the healthcare industry will grow faster than others and add around 2.4 million jobs as a result of the increasing aging population creating a greater demand for healthcare services.
