Fire shuts down Winter Haven Surgery Center temporarily — 4 insights

A fire damaged the Winter Haven (Fla.) Surgery Center Aug. 8, the Daily Ridge reports.

Here's what you should know:

1. The fire started in an office beside the ASC's front lobby and was primarily contained to that office. Adjacent spaces had minimal damage.

2. Smoke was distributed throughout the building from several air conditioning units, so the center will remain closed until the air completely clears. Patients should contact the facility regarding any scheduled appointments.

3. Nobody was injured in the fire.

4. The fire department responded to the incident after a passerby reported the smoke coming from the facility's roof at about 6:50 p.m.
