Cary (N.C.) Skin Center will begin offering patients Mohs surgery for melanoma in situ.
Here's what you should know.
1. The procedure is less expensive and invasive than a traditional surgical approach. It also reduces the cancer's recurrence rate.
2. A melanoma in situ can be removed and reconstruction can be completed within a day using the procedure.
3. Center surgeons Adam Ingraffea, MD, and Elias Emily Ayli, DO, are both trained to perform the procedure.
4. They each completed two-year training programs and have become fellows of the American College of Mohs Surgery.
