Nurse practitioners and physician assistants earn more than non-clinical staff, according to Medscape’s Clinical and Office Staff Salary Report 2015.

Here are the average annual salaries of clinical and non-clinical staff members:

•    Nurse practitioner — $87,000
•    Physician assistant — $85,000
•    Registered nurse — $52,000
•    Medical biller/coder (handles both responsibilities) — $37,000
•    Medical biller (billing responsibilities only) — $33,500
•    Medical coder (coding responsibilities only) — $32,000
•    Medical assistant — $30,000
•    Front desk staff — $28,000
•    Medical records clerk — $26,500

The survey includes responses from 1,050 physicians across 25 specialties who were asked to describe their practice and staff situations.
