The legislation was introduced in the Senate two weeks ago. The bills are designed to transition reimbursement for ASCs to the hospital market basket update from the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers.
Additional provisions would:
• Create value-based purchasing for ASCs
• Include an ASC voice to the Advisory Panel on Hospital Outpatient Payment
• Require the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to disclose criteria used to deny procedures form being performed in ASCs.
ASCA encourages industry supporters to contact their representatives and raise awareness for passing this legislation.
