Ambulatory Surgery Center of Illinois to Participate in Capitol Hill Fly-In

The Ambulatory Surgery Center Association of Illinois will be participating in the Ambulatory Surgery Center of America's Capitol Hill Fly-In next month.

The event will take place on September 18 to 19 in Washington D.C., and include the opportunity to speak with congressional leaders. Those attending can discuss the reasons their representatives should support the ASC Quality and Access Act of 2013, which would increase Medicare reimbursement to ASCs so it matches hospital outpatient department rates.

Past Capitol Fly-In events with other states show several representatives signing on to support the legislation shortly after the event. Currently, U.S. Rep. Randy Hultgren (R-IL) is a co-sponsor of the legislation, signing on after his senior legislative assistant met with Joe Ollayos, administrator of the Tri-Cities Surgery Center in Geneva and Mark Mayo, executive director of the Ambulatory Surgery Center Association of Illinois.

The event will also include an informational meeting and dinner with other surgery center leaders.
