UnitedHealth to buy DaVita Medical Group for $4.9M, adding 300 clinics and 6 outpatient centers
UnitedHealth agreed to purchase Denver-based DaVita Medical Group for $4.9 million. DaVita Medical Group, a division of DaVita, operates around 300 clinics and six outpatient surgical centers across six states. Post-transaction, the facilities will become part of UnitedHealth's Optum division, which is the umbrella for all non-insurance business, including pharmacy benefits, data analytics, consulting, clinics and surgical centers.

29.3% of practices failed to report value-based payment information in 2015
A study, published in Health Affairs, examined physician performance and participation in Medicare's value-based payment modifier program finding that 29.3 percent of practices failed to report value-based payment information in 2015.

Covered California selects The Joint Commission for certification incentive
Covered California selected The Joint Commission's Primary Care Medical Home Certification as an incentive option for members. California-specific ambulatory care organizations, hospitals and critical access hospitals that offer primary care services can now fulfill Covered California's incentives by earning The Joint Commission's PCMH Certification.

Children's National Health System plans 60k-sq.-ft. outpatient facility
Washington, D.C.-based Children's National Health System announced plans for a 60,000-square-foot outpatient health center in Glenarden, Md. System officials are seeking a certificate of need to build the pediatric outpatient and specialty medical center. Officials plan to house 50 treatment rooms and two ambulatory surgery operating rooms in the center.

Seaside Surgery Center begins offering pain management services
North Naples, Fla.-based Seaside Surgery Center physicians began offering radiofrequency ablation services, Dec. 4. Seaside Surgery Center invested in Cosman Medical's G4 four-electrode radiofrequency generator unit to begin offering radiofrequency ablation services.

PatientPay receives $6M in growth capital
PatientPay secured $6 million in growth capital for significant company expansion in the future. The company, which partners with specialty care medical groups to drive patient payments, plans to use the investment for continued enhancements to its patient payment platform and company growth.

Apex Surgical Center 1st in NY to perform same-day total knee replacement
Westmoreland, N.Y.-based Apex Surgical Center became the first ASC in New York to host a same-day total knee replacement last week.
