Connecticut-based North East Alliance Surgery center to make fall debut
North East Alliance Surgery Center in Hamden, Conn., plans to open in the fall in partnership with Surgical Care Affiliates. The ASC will specialize in orthopedics, spine and podiatric surgery. It will also offer pain management, retina care and interventional cardiology.

Raleigh General Hospital reopens upgraded medical campus
Raleigh (N.C.) General Hospital reopened its improved $3 million Raleigh Medical Complex, bringing a new surgical team onboard as well. The hospital made upgrades to its surgical center to accommodate outpatient procedures. Center physicians will perform gastroenterology, orthopedic, urology and general surgery procedures.

Saint Thomas Health purchases $1.19M in land for new surgery center
Murfreesboro, Tenn.-based Saint Thomas Health purchased 2.25 acres of land for $1.19 million to build its new outpatient surgery center. The multispecialty center will be approximately 13,000 square feet.

Surgery Center of Oklahoma joins Health Beyond Insurance's provider network
Oklahoma City-based Surgery Center of Oklahoma joined Health Beyond Insurance's provider network, offering surgical services to a network of self-paying patients. HBI's patient base will now have access to SCO's facilities and surgeons.

Touchton Surgery Center receives The Joint Commission Accreditation
The Joint Commission awarded Jacksonville, Fla.-based Touchton Surgery Center the Gold Seal of Approval for Ambulatory Health Care Accreditation. Touchton is a 15,000-square-foot ASC with six operating rooms and two procedure rooms.

USPI CEO: more health systems are looking for ASC partnerships than ever before
For the first quarter of 2018, USPI reported $498 million in net operating revenue, up 9.5 percent over the same period last year, and a 3.2 percent increase in same-facility cases. During the first quarter earnings conference call, Tenet Executive Chairman and CEO Ronald Rittenmeyer, President of Hospital Operations J. Eric Evans and Vice Chairman Bill Wilcox discussed USPI's future.

HCA performed 230k outpatient surgeries in Q1
HCA Healthcare announced its first quarter fiscal year 2018 earnings, posting revenues of $11.42 billion. The company reported a 7.5 percent increase in revenues year over year. Net income attributable to HCA totaled $1.14 billion, or $3.18 per diluted share.
