The former manager of a Williamsburg, Va.-based eye center faces 30 years in prison after charging hundreds of thousands of dollars to the center's credit cards for personal use.

Medical device makers 'shocked and disappointed' by Trump's proposed $50B tariffs
Last month, President Donald Trump announced plans to impose a 25 percent tariff on about $50 billion worth of goods imported from China. With the final list of affected imports set to be announced by June 15, U.S. medical device industry representatives are holding their breath. About 1,300 products are included on the proposed list of tariffs. Thirty medical devices — including needles, catheters, defibrillators, X-rays, patient monitoring systems and respiration devices — are included.

Anesthesiologist Dr. Vanila Singh to lead HHS' pain management task force
HHS' Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health CMO Vanila Singh, MD, will lead the agency's Pain Management Best Practices Inter-Agency Task Force. Dr. Singh is a clinical professor of anesthesiology at Stanford (Calif.) University. She also is a practicing anesthesiologist.
