New York City-based Gramercy Surgery's two locations, Manhattan Surgery Center and Midtown Surgical Center are all partnering with Emmy, a platform that provides New York City residents access to an individual who can help patients travel between home and visits to healthcare providers.

Emmy gives temporary assistance to individuals while allowing them to maintain independence and privacy. The company launched in September 2017 and has partnered with 20 healthcare providers since then.

New York requires patients who undergo surgery with anesthesia to have an individual accompany them home; however, not everyone has a close family member or friend who can provide this assistance. As a result, cases are sometimes postponed or canceled.

Emmy provides trusted individuals who can accompany patients, which cuts down on cancellations, reduces patient discharge times and allows providers to generate new revenue from patients who would otherwise delay their cases. Emmy also serves as a healthcare logistics tool to remind patients about their appointments.

The company recently partnered with The Endoscopy Center of New York and West Side GI, both based in New York City.
