15 markets that would save the most with 80% ASC market penetration — Cleveland tops the list at $1.08B

If the top 50 markets in the U.S. achieved 80 percent market penetration, the healthcare system would realize a huge cost savings. In a report titled “Disruption in the Surgical Care Marketplace,” Franklin Trust Ratings reported the healthcare system could save $10.5 billion by meeting this benchmark.

The report based this assumption on average net costs of $4,337 per hospital-based outpatient surgical procedure and $2,429 per freestanding ASC-based procedure, only including procedures performed in both settings.

Here are the top 15 markets that stand to save the most by reaching 80 percent ASC market penetration:
