Congresswoman Louise Slaughter plans to help secure the funding. The VA will request the funds in its next budget proposal, but the funding still needs phase two approval that would be approved by fall 2016.
The outpatient center would serve veterans and their families.
“The commitment I secured from the VA is a huge win for the Rochester region’s 70,000 veterans and their families,” said Rep. Slaughter. “For years, I have been raising the alarm that our veterans in the Rochester area have been forced to travel too far and wait too long to access critical medical services. After working with the VA to move this project forward, this agreement gets us one step closer to ensuring our veterans can easily access the high-quality healthcare they deserve.”
An ambulatory surgery center will be included in the outpatient clinics proposal.
