USPI makes pair of leadership appointments & more — 5 ASC company key notes

Here are five updates on ASC companies and industry-relevant companies to note:

Addison, Texas-based United Surgical Partners International made a pair of leadership changes. The company’s former West Division COO Mark Garvin was named COO of USPI and the former East Division COO Andy Johnston was named chief development officer.

Lancaster, Pa.-based RGI & MidAtlantic Endoscopy commenced its new surgery center project with a wall-breaking ceremony. The practice is the combined entity of Lancaster Gastroenterology and RGAL Gastroenterology Specialists.

Surgeons performed the 1,000th total joint replacement at St. Cloud (Minn.) Surgical Center. St. Cloud Surgical Center is partnered with Deerfield, Ill.-based Surgical Care Affiliates.

Nashville, Tenn.-based PhyMed Healthcare Group closed a transaction to partner with Phoenix-based Grand Canyon Anesthesia.

A private equity firm bought the Cape Coral (Fla.) Medical Center building. The building houses Cape Coral Surgery Center, a joint venture with Nashville, Tenn.-based Surgery Partners and physician owners, and three other tenants.
