UM Capital Region Health updating Laurel facility — 4 insights

Cheverly, Md.-based UM Capital Region Health is upgrading Laurel (Md.) Regional Hospital, building an array of features including an outpatient surgery center, the Baltimore Sun reports.

What you should know:

1. In addition to the surgery center, the facility will now have 24/7 emergency rooms, outpatient behavioral programs, imaging, labs, a pharmacy and short-stay overnight care.

2. The hospital will offer chronic pain management, lung health, primary care, women’s health and wound care services.

3. In April 2018, UM invested $50 million in the campus to build a 75,000-square-foot medical facility.

4. UM will add psychiatrists and clinicians to the facility to address opioid abuse.
