UC Davis Children’s Hospital recently opened a 20,000-square-foot pediatric surgery center to treat patients in Northern California, ABC 10 reports.

1. The center has 24 preoperative and postoperative rooms and is the only level 1 pediatric trauma center on the West coast.

2. The health system designed the hospital with children in mind, with a play place in the lobby and an array of children’s books available.

3. Center clinicians perform around 20 surgeries daily, and the center is equipped to perform surgeries on babies that are still in the womb.
