Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare extended its agreement with Cerner after working together for several years.

Going forward, the partnership will focus on intelligence in automation and optimizing the clinician user experience. The organizations will also focus on interoperability of IT systems and building a modern cloud infrastructure.

Tenet-affiliated clinicians will have access to CommonWell Health Alliance, a national data-sharing network, which will allow them to view patient records from across different clinics and hospitals.

With more than 110,000 employees, Tenet Healthcare includes 65 hospitals, 23 surgical hospitals and 480 outpatient centers across the U.S. The company also has 50 health system partners and 750 Conifer clients.

"At Tenet, we are focused on innovation of our systems infrastructure to enable our caregivers to better serve patients in the most effective and efficient manner," said CIO of Tenet Healthcare Paola Arbour. "With our expanded Cerner collaboration we are able to enhance the functionality of our systems and provide our clinicians with greater visibility to patients' most recent, relevant information."
