Tax Break Approved for New York Surgeons Hoping to Build Lockport Surgery Center

Two surgeons who hope to build an ambulatory surgery center in Lockport, N.Y., have received approval of a 10-year tax break, according to a report from The Buffalo News.

The approval of a 10-year payment-in-lieu-of-taxes was granted by the board of the Niagara County Industrial Development Agency to surgeons of Lockport-based Great Lakes Surgical Associates, who want to renovate a vacant medical building for a four-unit surgery center.

If developed, the facility would be the first ASC in eastern Niagara County.

The ASC project still requires a certificate of need, the approval of which would likely require a letter of support from Eastern Niagara Hospital, the nearest hospital to the proposed project, according to earlier reports.
