UnitedHealth Group President and Optum CEO Andrew Witty elaborated on his plan for seamless healthcare at Forbes Healthcare Summit Dec. 4.
What you should know and how surgery centers are involved:
1. Mr. Witty said Eden Prairie, Minn.-based Optum plans to “wire together” its network of clinics, surgery centers and urgent care centers across the U.S. to create a more seamless care delivery process. It will do this by supplying the entities with health data and related insights in an attempt to create standardized outcome measures.
2. The company has already begun this work in Denver, Seattle, Southern California, Las Vegas, Dallas and the New York/New Jersey metropolitan market.
3. The platform also has an innovation aspect, with Mr. Witty saying physicians will be able to seek advice from Optum to increase innovation-related measures.
