Riverside University Health System opening care center with outpatient surgery center — 4 insights

Moreno Valley, Calif.-based Riverside University Health System anticipates breaking ground on a 200,000-square-foot ambulatory care campus with an outpatient surgery center, also in Moreno Valley, this spring, The Press-Enterprise reports.

Here’s what you should know:

1. The health system is projecting a boom of outpatient surgery activity and is hoping to capitalize on it through the new center.

2. The health system’s newly appointed chief surgeon, Raul Coimbra, MD, will work with other department leaders to increase both inpatient and outpatient surgical volume.

3. In addition to the surgical center, the center will also offer pharmaceutical services and medical office space. 

4. The care center will allow the health system to transition services from Riverside University Health System — Medical Center, also in Moreno Valley, into the new office building, freeing space in the hospital.
