Here are five takeaways:
1. Providence has plans to purchase the main hospital building as well as the Southgate campus property and three other surrounding buildings.
2. Providence filed a letter of intent with state officials to build an ASC at the location.
3. The ASC has an estimated cost of nearly $3.7 million and would house two operating rooms and two endoscopy procedure rooms.
4. Providence St. Mary Medical Center Chief Administrative Officer Susan Blackburn said the health system could not open the ASC immediately as it could take up to nine months to receive approval from officials following the deal’s close.
5. In addition to the ASC, the facility would offer primary care and urgent care, among other services.
