Physicians Endoscopy names new CEO & more — 9 ASC industry notes

Here are nine updates on ASC companies and industry-relevant companies to note:

David Young was selected as the new CEO of gastroenterology-focused management company Jamison, Pa.-based Physicians Endoscopy.  

Physicians Endoscopy and Silver Spring, Md.-based Capital Digestive Care entered into a strategic partnership Aug. 1, which could shake up the entire gastroenterology specialty. Read the story behind the deal here. 

Melville, N.Y.-based North American Partners in Anesthesia tapped Dan Gofman as senior vice president of mergers and acquisitions.

North American Partners in Anesthesia will provide anesthesia services to Putnam, Conn.-based Day Kimball Hospital beginning this September.

CMS proposed a payment rate of $8,639.97 for total knee arthroplasty in its 2020 outpatient and ASC prospective payment system proposed rule. Read more.

Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare Corp. donated $350,000 to the El Paso (Texas) Community Foundation to support families and victims of the mass shooting that took place inside a Walmart on Aug. 3.

Winston-Salem, N.C.-based Wake Forest Baptist Health opened its surgery center at Lexington (N.C.) Medical Center.

HSTpathways ASC Software made the 2019 Inc. 5000 list, a ranking of the fastest-growing private companies in the U.S.

UnitedHealth Group's health services arm, Optum, acquired Deerfield, Ill.-based Surgical Care Affiliates in January 2017, and since then the ASC management company has steadily grown. CEO Tony Kilgore offered insights into the company here.
