The Pennsylvania Medical Society is hosting its first-ever Independent Practice Summit in Harrisburg, Pa., on June 19, bringing together independent physicians from across the state for a day focused on building sustainable models of physician-led care.
The summit comes as PAMED formally established its Independent Practice Physicians Section in 2024, following a resolution passed at its 2023 House of Delegates meeting. Ahmed Hasan, MD, vice chair of the section, told Becker’s there are more than 12,500 independent physicians practicing in Pennsylvania despite ongoing consolidation, many of whom previously left hospital employment to return to private practice.
Alongside the summit, PAMED is launching Independent Docs PA, a new statewide directory designed to help patients and referring physicians find independent practices across Pennsylvania.
At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
