Here's the growth moves of three of the largest ASC chains in 2024:

Winston-Salem, N.C.-based Novant Health entered the South Carolina market earlier this year with a $2.4 million acquisition of three hospitals and their affiliated physician clinics, previously owned by Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare.

Winston-Salem, N.C.-based Novant Health has sold its Charlotte, N.C.-based ASC, Matthews Surgery Center, to Charlotte-based OrthoCarolina. 

Private equity firm IRA Capital purchased a 41,500-square-foot medical outpatient facility in Chicago.

Nashville, Tenn.-based ASC chain AmSurg has partnered with healthcare communication company Dialog Health to enhance patient communication. 

A Georgia-based real estate company has purchased a medical office building in Ankeny, Iowa, for $31.7 million, according to an Oct. 23 report from the Business Record.

Real estate developer Meridian has purchased a vacant, 94,569-square-foot medical building in Tucson, Ariz.

UnitedHealth Group, parent company of Optum, has set its sights on acquiring Brentwood, Tenn.-based ASC operator Surgery Partners, leaving industry leaders concerned about the potential effects. 

Irving, Texas-based Christus Health and Kerrville (Texas) Surgery Center have finalized a joint venture as Christus Surgery Center.
