For the third quarter, Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare reported same-facility surgeries increased 3.2 percent, including a 4.2 percent increase in same-facility outpatient surgeries. At the same time, same-facility inpatient surgeries increased 1.6 percent.

Chicago-based Rush University Medical Center will dedicate and cut the ribbon on its $65 million, 100,000-square-foot medical professional building in Oak Brook, Ill., Dec. 11.

The Department of Veterans Affairs is building an outpatient clinic in Fort Knox, Ky., The News-Enterprise reports.

Work is progressing on Dayton, Ohio-based Kettering Health Network's Troy (Ohio) Hospital, with a surgery center, Troy Daily News reports.

Boston-based Partners HealthCare aims to open multiple outpatient clinics in Eastern Massachusetts and focus on ambulatory growth over the next five years, The Boston Globe reports.

Estero, Fla.-based Lee Health Coconut Point opened a 163,500-square-foot outpatient center featuring what is believed to be the first freestanding emergency department in Lee County, Fla., Business Observer reports.

The Houston City Council approved a community improvement district to fund Houston, Mo.-based Texas County Memorial Hospital's proposed on-campus surgery center, the Houston Herald reports.
