Optum is planning to close one of its clinics in Anacortes, Wash., in December, according to a Sept. 30 report from Cascadia Daily News.
The practice, Island Internal Medicine, will provide care to patients until Dec. 4.
The organization is consolidating its services at its clinic in La Conner, Wash., which is about 12 miles away from the current Anacortes practice.
Optum has sold off practices and cut down on its physician network so far in 2026.
An Optum spokesperson provided the following statement to Becker’s: “After careful review, Optum has made the decision to consolidate services at its La Conner clinic and close Island Internal Medicine in Anacortes effective Dec. 4, 2026. Our focus is on ensuring patients continue to have access to the care they need with as little disruption as possible. Patients are receiving advance notice, will continue to receive care through Dec. 4, and will have access to nearby care options, including Optum’s clinic in La Conner and other providers in the community.”
At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
