NueHealth, former executives embroiled in legal battle — 5 things to know

NueHealth and its former CEO and former chief strategy officer are locked in a legal battle after both parties filed lawsuits against each other, the Kansas City Business Journal reports.

Here's what you should know.

1. Former NueHealth CEO Steven Harmon and former Chief Strategy Officer Steve Garver filed a lawsuit in February after they were terminated before their contracts expired. Both parties are seeking monetary damages and a declaratory judgment saying they were entitled to receive a transaction bonus, as designated by their now nullified contracts.

2. NueHealth filed a counterclaim alleging Mr. Harmon and Mr. Garver conducted dishonest activities and failed to perform their duties in multiple instances. NueHealth argued both employees allegedly fabricated lead lists, sales figures and department budgets. The company alleged they also hired people as consultants instead of as employees, which is against NueHealth's policies. NueHealth is seeking monetary damages.

3. NueHealth has had a series of executive departures in the last year, with the company losing its chief commercial officer and chief development officer as well.

4. NueHealth declined comment on the action to the Business Journal but did confirm Mr. Harmon's departure.

5. Lawyers for Mr. Harmon and Mr. Garver claim they were fired so NueHealth "could avoid paying them the fair value of their employment contracts."
