1. The project would cost around $9.8 million and would require moving two Novant operating rooms from a facility in Winston-Salem to the Kernersville facility.
2. This particular project isn’t considered competitive and won’t require a public hearing for approval.
3. Novant submitted a certificate-of-need request last week.
4. The surgery center includes outpatient procedures and minimally invasive techniques. Novant offers several specialties including orthopedics, neurosurgery, bariatric surgery, colorectal surgery and ophthalmology.
5. There are three Novant outpatient surgery locations in Charlotte and additional locations in Huntersville and Salisbury in addition to Winston-Salem and Kernersville.
