Dawson Med, an independent primary and urgent care practice, acquired Batish Family Medicine in Leland, N.C., effective April 1, retaining the full staff of the former practice, Wilmington Biz reported May 6.
Batish Family Medicine was founded in 1998 by Sanjay Batish, MD, who is retiring from direct patient care and relocating to Raleigh, N.C., to care for his parents. Dawson Med co-founder and medical director Umar Bowers, MD, said the practice also added husband-and-wife physicians Andrew Marburg, MD, and Jiyun Chang, MD, as part of the expansion into Brunswick County, the fastest-growing county in North Carolina.
Dawson Med was co-founded in 2021 by Dr. Bowers and his wife, family nurse practitioner Tiffany Bowers.
