North Carolina Hospital Files CON Application for New $30M Surgery Center

Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton, N.C., has announced it has filed a certificate of need application with the state to build a $30 million ambulatory surgery center in Lumberton.

The ASC, which is planned to stand three to four stories tall, will house outpatient surgical services, physician offices and may include space for retail operations, according to a news release from the hospital.

Earlier reports indicated the new surgery center would be a joint venture with surgeons.

The hospital has secured an option to purchase the land for the project pending approval of the CON, according to the release. Construction is scheduled to begin early to mid-2012.
