A primary care clinic that has served Dryden, N.Y. for more than 70 years will close May 1, the Ithaca Voice reported April 17.
Cayuga Primary Care Dryden, part of Centralus Health, has operated since 1955. Centralus cited staffing challenges and the cost of maintaining an aging facility as reasons for the closure. Services will relocate to offices in Cortland beginning May 4.
The closure has drawn concern from local residents and officials, particularly for patients without reliable transportation, according to the publication.
As an interim solution, Family Health Network of Central New York will bring a mobile clinic to Dryden for two trial visits next month to assess community need, with a potential permanent location under consideration.
