New Athens surgery center to feature outpatient surgical tower: 3 key notes

Representatives from Athens-Limestone Hospital, INKANA Development and OrthoSports Athens are breaking ground on a $25 million medical office building with an outpatient surgical tower in Athens, Ga., the News Courier reports.

Here’s what you need to know.

1. The three Athens, Ga.-based businesses collaborated to create the surgery center. When complete, it’ll feature six operating rooms, imaging and laboratory services and physician office space.

2. Officials expect the center to open in the summer of 2018.

3. Athens Mayor Ronnie Marks said the center will offer Athens residents another option for medical care and employment.
