Mississippi General Surgeon Opens Jackson’s First Weight Loss Surgery Clinic

George Woodman, MD, a general surgeon based on Memphis, Tenn., has announced he will open a weight-loss surgery clinic in Jackson in mid-January, according to a Jackson Sun report.

Dr. Woodman met with West Tennessee Healthcare and administrators, then developed a plan to make weight loss surgery services more accessible to Jackson-Madison County General Hospital patients, according to the report. Dr. Woodman has performed more than 3,500 minimally invasive weight loss procedures as is a member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.

The clinic will provide the only weight loss surgery service in the Jackson area, according to the report.
