Here’s what you should know:

1. The ASC has four procedure rooms and is expected to serve a patient base of 7,000-plus annually.

2. The center is a joint venture between New York City-based Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center, New York City-based Morris Heights Health Center, four hospital-employed GI physicians and four independent gastroenterologists.

3. Physicians Endoscopy will serve as the center’s management and administrative services partner.

4. Physicians Endoscopy Senior Vice President of Business Development said in a release, “Opening a center in the state of New York is difficult in itself. Obtaining successful [certificate of need] approval with so many different class owners was a huge challenge. The ability for the physicians, from several different practices, to remain organized throughout the lengthy regulatory process is a testament to their continued partnership. It is very satisfying to meet the expectations of the physicians, hospital and the health center who were all counting on PE to achieve their goal.”

5. Prospere Remy, MD, will serve as medical director of the center.
