What you should know:
1. Orthopaedic Specialists’ physicians perform outpatient procedures out of Stateline Surgery Center and inpatient procedures out of Premier Surgical Institute, all based in Galena, Kan.
2. If Mercy advances the partnership, it would bring all three properties under its umbrella.
3. Mercy, Orthopaedic Specialists and the two surgical facilities have “a long history” of working together, Mercy said in an announcement.
“Coming together is a logical next step to strengthen the future of healthcare across our region, enabling greater coordination of care and access to a broader network of services for patients as well as expanded professional opportunities for co-workers,” the health system said in a statement provided to The Joplin Globe.
4. The four groups are now in a due diligence period. Mercy would like to complete the partnership by the end of 2019.
