Mercy Health's plans for outpatient center advance — 5 points

On April 13, a Toledo City (Ohio) Council moved forward with Mercy Health's expansion plans to include an outpatient center, according to Toledo Blade.

Here are five points:

1. To make room for the outpatient center, the hospital submitted plans to tear down the Marguerite D'Youville Education Center Education Center.

2. Mercy plans to construct a 21,000-sqaure-foot renovation of the outpatient and surgery building, as well as a 33,000-square-foot addition to the emergency room.

3. The plan's update accounts for different entry points for outpatient surgery patients, emergency department ambulances and emergency walk-ins.

4. The building will house surgical facilities on the second level and the hospital's emergency room on the main floor.

5. Last month, the Toledo Plan Commission gave Mercy Health approval to change the master plan for the project.
