The agreement took effect Oct. 1 and confirms earlier reports that the organizations were in discussion over the transfer of ownership.

The facility will operate as a hospital-licensed outpatient center following renovations of the facility needed to meet licensure requirements and hospital code. The center is expected to open in early 2011.

“At a time of uncertainty over the impact of healthcare reform, and a rising number of patients not covered by private insurance, it’s important that our community’s healthcare resources are aligned as closely as possible,” said Theodore A. Calianos, MD, a plastic and reconstructive surgeon one of the Bayside Principals, in a news release from Cape Cod Healthcare. “This agreement will help the physicians and the hospitals collaborate more closely on quality measures, safety initiatives and other patient care issues. It is hoped that the operational efficiency and extremely high levels of patient satisfaction that we experienced will continue to be realized in our ongoing relationship with CCHC.”
