Maine Medical Center to build $59M medical office building — 3 insights

Portland-based Maine Medical Center received unanimous approval from the city planning board to build a $59 million medical office building on its campus in Scarborough, Maine, the Portland Press Herald reports.

What you should know:

1. The 108,000-square-foot medical office building is part of a larger $534 million expansion and modernization project for Maine Med.

2. The health system will move the physician practices of Maine Medical Partners into the medical office building.

3. The Scarborough campus houses an array of existing healthcare facilities including Scarborough Surgery Center, Maine Medical Center Research Institute and MMC Outpatient Imaging.
