License for St. James Surgery Center Transferred to Private Equity Firm

Koch Eye Associates was purchased by a private equity firm, Boston-based Candescent Partners, on Jan. 27, after the transfer of the medical license for the practice's St. James Surgery Center was approved by the Rhode Island Department of Health, according to a PBN report.

Candescent's decision to acquire Koch Eye Associates, which has seven locations through Rhode Island and 140 employees, evolved over the course of discussions that began over a year ago. The deal was for an undisclosed sum.

Under the purchase agreement, Koch CEO Peter Koch will remain leader of the practice for the next there years. The medical practice will continue its current expansion plans in Rhode Island, moving to a new location in Woonsocket that will triple its office space.
