Judge ends UnitedHealthcare, Envision saga & more — 7 ASC company key notes

Here are seven updates on ASC companies and industry-relevant companies to note.

Minnetonka, Minn.-based UnitedHealthcare and Nashville, Tenn.-based Envision Healthcare will be forced to arbitrate, after the U.S. District Court of Southern Florida granted United's motion to compel arbitration and its stay of action, according to a court filing. Read more.

Investment manager Jim Chanos of Kynikos Associates took a shot at Envision Healthcare's billing practices while speaking on CNBC. Mr. Chanos said Envision is in trouble because of its "deceptive or aggressive use of reimbursement."

Nashville, Tenn.-based Hospital Corporation of America's Surgery Center of Rome (Ga.) celebrated its 30th anniversary and it's 125,000th completed procedure.

Eden Prairie, Minn.-based OptumCare, including Birmingham, Ala.-based Surgical Care Affiliates, plans to grow toward more consumer-centric care and risk-based contracting in the future, said OptumHealth's CEO Andrew Hayek during the first quarter conference call April 17.

Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare purchased the final 15 percent ownership interest in Addision, Texas-based United Surgical Partners International from Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe, upping its ownership to 95 percent.

Provision, Device Reprocessing Solutions is partnering with MedTech/MedCare and Henry Schein to encourage sales and provide support for Provision's medical device reprocessing solutions.

Nashville, Tenn.-based Montecito Medical acquired Orthopaedic Associates of Wisconsin's building in Pewaukee.
